In a NASA wide exercise an array of robots, spacesuit clad "astronauts" and extreme environment habitat modules converged at Moses Lake. WA for a week long experiment on living/working in the extreme enviornment of the Moon simulation. Prototypes for future moon rovers and space suits are tested at Moses Lake, Washington. The low-slung Crew Mobility Chassis (foreground) can be operated manually or robotically. Behind are two ATHLETEs (All-Terrain Hex-Limbed Extra-Terrestrial Explorers), robots with articulating legs that can carry cylindrical habitat prototypes, as here, or other gear over rough terrain.
